This one takes me back to the days in my great grandmother’s kitchen, where she sat at her table making cookies.

I thought her peanut butter cookies were magical. I’m not sure what her exact recipe was. She didn’t really measure anything, but this recipe is really close.

These are soft with the right amount of sweet and a good kick of peanut butter. They have become a family favorite!

Classic Peanut Butter Cookie Recipe

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter (I use an organic creamy variety)
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Cream your butter, and peanut butter together until smooth. Stir in both sugars. Mix in the egg. Add flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda and mix all together. Roll your dough into walnut size balls and place on your non greased baking sheet. Use a fork and press cookies down a bit. Bake for 8 minutes.

Variations: Feel free to use a crunchy peanut butter if you like your peanut butter cookies to have nuts.

This recipe makes about 2 dozen cookies.

Soft and yummy!
