The first drink I ever fell in love with at Starbucks was the Mocha. This Copycat Mocha is made with coffee and only uses clean ingredients.
This Copycat Starbucks Mocha Coffee recipe uses coffee instead of espresso, coconut sugar instead of refined sugar, and contains no preservatives. It’s a delicious and clean version of the Starbucks Mocha.
It’s been over ten years ago since I first ordered a Mocha at Starbucks, but even now if I splurge on coffee, 90% of the time, I will order the Mocha. Two of my favorite things in the world, chocolate and coffee combined into one. Yes, please!
I started making my own version at home. It is much more economical, convenient, and I get to control the ingredients that I’m taking in.
This has become a favorite in my house. My forever friends that come visit always ask for it. It’s so simple, and I actually prefer it to the Starbucks Mocha (sorry Starbucks!). It tastes great and doesn’t leave me with a sugar crash. Feel free to add a dollop of homemade whipped cream for an extra treat!
Copycat Mocha Made with Coffee
- 8 ounces of fresh brewed organic coffee
- 2 1/2 tbsp coconut sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp cocoa
- 2 tbsp heavy whipping cream
Combine your coconut sugar and cocoa in your favorite mug. Add heavy cream and stir until a thick cream forms. Pour in coffee slowly while stirring to combine well. Add whipped cream if desired. Now go sit somewhere in your cozy socks and enjoy!
Variation: to make this “clean” use organic cocoa* and organic whipping cream. This Mocha already contains no refined sugar so it doesn’t “drop me” the way a regular does. Keep calm and coffee on!
