Alright, so here’s the deal. I was going on day four of no hair washing, when I needed something to bring my fine, oily hair back to life.
But, I was out of dry shampoo. I actually have yet to find a dry shampoo that I love. They either seem to leave white residue in my hair or not work all that well.
So I made a natural one that did the trick for me. It’s so simple and you probably already have all of the ingredients in your kitchen. It absorbed the oil, added some body back to my hair, and bonus…smelled a bit like chocolate!
Natural Dry Shampoo Ingredients
- 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 tbsp cocoa powder
Yep, that’s it. Whisk those together, put a bit on your fingertips, and work into the roots of your hair. Make sure you get all around your scalp, because this is where the hair produces all of that oil!
I like to use non gmo cornstarch and organic cacao powder just because I feel better about the ingredients. (And honestly, have you looked at dry shampoo ingredients? I seriously can’t pronounce them.) Make as much as you want because it will keep indefinitely.
Once the dry shampoo is applied, you can run a straightener through your hair, or add a few waves with your curling iron if you like.
This dry shampoo works best on dark blonde to dark brown hair. You can use it on other colors, but it blends best on these shades. Have a happy hair day!
