You’re Doing it Right is a poem dedicated to every woman who struggles with feeling inadequate in motherhood.
“You’re Doing it Right”
The dishes are stacked high,
The bottles left unsanitized,
You’re doing it right.
The house a complete mess,
The laundry a wreck,
You’re doing it right.
Holding your child tight,
While rocking through the night,
You’re doing it right.
The days creeping…sigh,
But the years flying by,
You’re doing it right.
Your hair messily piled high,
And feeling overwhelmed you start to cry,
You’re doing it right.
Wrestling with feelings of inadequacy,
While overcoming other’s shaming tendencies,
You’re doing it right.
Giving it more than your all,
Not one sacrifice is small,
You’re doing it right.
Because Mama, your love is much needed,
And in you, your child’s heart completed.
You’re doing it right.
So when you question if it’s enough,
Because this motherhood thing is so tough, remember
You’re doing it right.
