This DIY Nutty Buddy Bars recipe is so simple and yummy!

We love Little Debbie’s nutty buddy bars, but I wanted to make a simple diy version that had better ingredients.

These are kid approved and taste a whole heck of a lot like the original. I chose to use real chocolate to coat the bar. But if you want it to taste exactly like a Nutty Buddy, make sure to use a chocolate coating. (Yeah, that’s right…there’s less than 2% of cocoa in there.)

Only 3 ingredients needed

DIY Nutty Buddy Bars Recipe:

  • Voortman’s Chocolate Wafers (found them at Target)
  • Jif Natural Creamy Peanut Butter (or your favorite variety)
  • 20 oz bag of Ghirardelli Bittersweet Chocolate Chips

Take two Voortman’s Chocolate Wafers. Spread your peanut butter on the top of one of them. Make sure to give it a good thick coat. Take the second wafer and lightly press it on top of the peanut butter. Repeat with as many wafers as you would like. Freeze them for 15 minutes.

While the wafers are freezing, melt your chocolate. I melted mine in a tall glass cup to make it easier to dip the entire wafer in chocolate. Place the chocolate chips in a microwave safe container. Heat for 25 seconds. Stir. Heat again for 20 second. Stir. Repeat this process until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Go slow!! You don’t want to burn your chocolate.

Remove the wafers from the freezer, and dip one at a time in your chocolate. I used my fingers, but feel free to use a fork or tongs to help you out. Shake off the excess and place them on a wire rack to drip. (You can also place them right on wax paper. The chocolate may puddle a bit around them, but they will still taste amazing.) Allow the chocolate to harden. You can also refrigerate them to speed to process along.

They are ready! Eat right away or store in an air tight container.
