Girl!!! Are you still buying moisturizer off the shelf in the store? Are you still buying face lotions that are just way overpriced for the small amount you get?

Now I’m not hating on all fancy and pricey products. Some of them do the job really well. But I am finding in my routines (especially after having children) that simpler is better. And cheaper just helps with running the household budget!

Enter organic virgin coconut oil.

This stuff is great. I use it as a moisturizer, including on my face before I put on makeup. I use it after shaving. Sometimes I use it to shave with. (Just make sure the temperature is over 74 degrees outside, otherwise the stuff can solidify in your drains and cause a clog). I use it as a “clean” oil in cooking. It can be used to heal up wounds and fresh tattoos. It’s basically the duct tape of the food world.

Coconut oil can also be used in place of lanolin for the breastfeeding momma! It helps with sore or dry nipples.

And one of the beauty’s of this product is now you can buy it pretty much anywhere: Target, Walmart, and if you want a ton that will last you a crazy long time, Costco.

You are welcome to add a drop or two of essential oils to the coconut oil depending on what you have and need (lavender is a nice one). One piece of advice that I will give is to make sure you keep your coconut oil for cooking and your coconut oil for moisturizer separate. I keep a full mason jar of it by my makeup. No one wants skin cells in their food (yuck!).

So give it a go! Let me know what you think. And bonus…the smell of coconut reminds me of the beach, which I love!

Did you happen to drip that oil on your clothes? Here’s the best way to remove oil stains.
