This was not my idea. I saw this originally on Facebook, and I loved it! As we gear up for the holiday season, I think it’s a wonderful idea to encourage my kids to focus on being thankful. In all honesty, it’s a great idea for me too. If you are dealing with sadness or sorrow, gratitude will help combat that.

So, after picking the perfect pumpkin, it became the centerpiece of our dining room table, and it will remain there until thanksgiving. Every night after dinner we take turns saying something that we are thankful for, and I write it on the pumpkin with a sharpie.

I have loved to see what all my kids come up with. Yes, my oldest did actually throw out “free will.” Definitely a great one! They have impressed me so with the things they say.

I encourage you to do your own gratitude pumpkin centerpiece. It will amaze you how it transforms your families attitude towards gratitude!
