Ok friends! I have decided that the first recipe that I share should be my great grandmother’s chocolate chip cookies. They are small but mighty! This is probably THE most requested recipe from my kitchen. So without further ado…

Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

⅓ cup butter, softened

⅓ cup shortening

½ cup brown sugar, packed

½ cup sugar

1 egg

1 ¾ cup all purpose flour

½ tsp baking soda

Pinch of salt

2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together butter, shortening, and sugars. Mix in egg. Add in flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix well. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto baking sheets. Bake for 8-9 minutes*.

*Do not overbake these. In fact, don’t overbake cookies ever! This is a mistake many people make. You can take the cookies out of the oven when they are just set in the middle. They will continue to bake on the hot pan once out of the oven.
