I tend to lean towards the keto diet, though I am not strict. I find I naturally gravitate to clean, high protein, high fat, and low carb foods. I just feel better when I feed my body this way.

What is the keto diet?

The keto diet aims to force your body into using a different type of fuel. According to Harvard Health, instead of relying on sugar (glucose) that comes from carbohydrates (such as grains, legumes, vegetables, and fruits), the keto diet relies on ketone bodies, a type of fuel that the liver produces from stored fat. Basically, it forces the body to burn fat instead of carbs.

It isn’t for everyone. This diet initially was started as a way to control epilepsy in children. However, it works! On the keto diet, a significant amount of weight loss does occur.

Of course, diets don’t always go quite as planned. Schedules, kid food preferences, and tiredness just plain get in the way at times. But regardless, below you will find five wonderful keto recipes to keep you strong and steady on your diet!

These recipes that I have compiled for you have a bonus to them.

They are kid approved!

I hope you enjoy!

Top 5 Keto Chicken Recipes

1. Cheesy Jalapeno Keto Chicken– Maebells

Who doesn’t love cheesy? An easy dinner that is ready in under 30 minutes. And it’s versatile! Pair it with cauliflower rice, asparagus, or zucchini noodles. It’s very satisfying. If your kids are sensitive to spicy, scale back the jalapenos.

2. Balsamic Herb Grilled Chicken– Lillie Eats and Tells

She’s one of my favorite food bloggers. And she has kids, so she knows the drill. This chicken is best when you can marinate for at least 8 hours. Even overnight is good. Trust me, it is worth the tender, flavor filled chicken that will result!

3. Shredded Chicken Egg Roll Bowl– Mama Did It

My littles enjoy this best when the chicken is separate from the “bowl.” Hey, whatever works. You can do the chicken two ways here: use shredded chicken you have prepared or use sliced leftover chicken from your balsamic herb chicken listed above. Two birds with one stone!

4. Best Keto Fried Chicken– Delish

Um, yes please! When you have kids, this is a must! I like to cut the chicken up into nugget size and then “bread” it. They won’t feel they are missing out on their nuggets with this recipe. It just feels comforting.

5. Greek Chicken– Allrecipes

I had to throw a classic in here! This one is so yummy! When I need a dinner that doesn’t take much prep, I throw all of the ingredients in the crockpot. It won’t be crispy but it will be flavorful. It you choose the crockpot, cut the oil by half.
